Odborné zaměření
- Specializuje se především na současnou francouzskou filosofii a vztahy mezi filosofií a uměním.
- Překládá z francouzštiny a němčiny.
- Za přípravu samizdatové edice děl J. Patočky získal v r. 1990 Výroční cenu Akademie věd (spolu s I. Chvatíkem, P. Koubou, J. Vítem a R. Paloušem).
Curriculum Vitae
- 21. 2. 1951 v Praze. Byl výrazně ovlivněn Janem Patočkou, věnuje se mj. kontextům současného výtvarného umění a kromě vlastních studií uvádí jako překladatel do českého prostředí zejména francouzské a německé autory.
- Po maturitě na Akademickém gymnáziu v Praze (1972) nemohl z kádrových důvodů studovat na vysoké škole a až do r. 1990 byl zaměstnán v Hydrometeorologickém ústavu.
- V letech 1971–1977 navštěvoval bytový seminář Jana Patočky. V r. 1990 obdržel titul Mgr. na Filozofické fakultě Univerzity Karlovy v Praze (doktorát 1998, habilitován 2003).
- V letech 1990–1992 pracoval v Archivu J. Patočky v Centru pro teoretická studia Akademie věd ČR a UK v Praze a externě přednášel na FF UK, od roku 1992 působí na plný úvazek v Ústavu filosofie a religionistiky FF UK v Praze.
- V období 1992–1995 vyučoval na Středoevropské (Sorosově) univerzitě v Praze, rok 1992 strávil na studijním pobytu ve vídeňském Institut für die Wissenschaften von Menschen. Poté začal přednášet také na Akademii výtvarných umění a poté od roku 2001 spolupracuje s Centrem audiovizuálních studií FAMU.
- Je členem Vědecké rady UK a FF UK, Umělecké rady FAMU, DAMU a AMU a Rady Filosofického ústavu.
- Na návrh Umělecké rady Akademie múzických umění v Praze jmenován v dubnu 2007 profesorem pro obor filmové, televizní a fotografické umění a nová média – teorie filmové a multimediální tvorby.
